In 2026, Mykhailo Medvediev was included in the Top Reviewers 2025 list of the International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics (IJGO), the official scientific journal of the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO).
In its reviewer acknowledgment, first published on 25 February 2026, IJGO recognized the specialists who completed reviews for the greatest number of papers during January–December 2025. Inclusion in this list refers specifically to peer-review activity. It does not represent an editorial appointment, but it does document sustained participation in the independent assessment of manuscripts—an essential part of the scientific publishing process.

A new clinical publication
A second development was the publication of “Laparoscopic excision of a coil-loaded ovarian vein for refractory pelvic pain after embolization: A case report” (DOI: 10.1002/ijgo.70902). The paper was first published online on 19 February 2026 and subsequently appeared in the August 2026 issue of IJGO: volume 174, issue 2, pages 1094–1096.
The report describes the laparoscopic excision of a segment of ovarian vein containing embolization coils in a clinical situation involving refractory pelvic pain after previous embolization. The publication is a case report and therefore concerns an individual clinical case. Such reports may help draw professional attention to uncommon or complex situations and support discussion among specialists, but they cannot by themselves establish the effectiveness of an approach for a broader patient population.
The authors’ affiliations connect the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Dnipro State Medical University, the Clinic of Dr. Medvedev in Dnipro, and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and CE-RICSAL (CEntro di RIcerca Clinico SALentino), “Veris delli Ponti” Hospital in Lecce, Italy. This combination reflects collaboration across academic medicine, clinical practice, and international professional exchange.
Relevance for professional collaboration
Peer review involves the critical assessment of manuscripts submitted by other authors, while the case report is an authored clinical publication. Together, these developments reflect participation both in scientific quality assurance and in the careful documentation of clinical experience.
For clinicians and researchers, they provide information about participation in peer review and international scientific communication. For patients, they illustrate how clinical observations can be documented, critically assessed, and shared with the professional community. For prospective partners, the publication offers a concrete example of cooperation between clinical and academic institutions in Ukraine and Italy.
